What is KA-EX® and how does it work?

Cortisol is the body’s primary stress hormone. It rises in response to physical or emotional stress to help you adapt—but when cortisol stays elevated for too long, it can impair recovery, disrupt sleep, and diminish overall performance.  

After intense training, the body enters a prolonged stress state: inflammation, increased acidity, and micro-tears in muscle tissue trigger an extended cortisol response that can last 48 to 72 hours. This often results in low energy, stagnated progress, and—in more severe cases—declining muscular performance.  

KA‑EX® is designed to support cortisol normalisation through multiple pathways:  

  • It contains phosphatidylserine, a clinically studied ingredient associated with supporting the regulation of exercise-induced cortisol responses; 
  • It supports muscle repair and immune function with L-glutamine, and improves sleep quality with L-tryptophan, both of which help mitigate the effects of elevated cortisol.

When and how should I take KA-EX®?

KA‑EX® is designed to be taken after physical exercise or activity to support recovery. Since recovery processes last over 48 hours, many athletes also take it on rest days. 

KA‑EX® can also be taken on demanding workdays, during periods of mental fatigue, or whenever your body is under stress — whether physical or psychological. 

The recommended serving is one KA‑EX® per day, available in either sachet or bottle format. Mix one sachet with 500 ml (approx. 17 oz) of cold water, shake well until fully dissolved, and drink chilled. 

Who can take KA-EX®?

KA‑EX® is recommended for individuals aged 13 and older. Younger individuals have different nutritional needs, and supplementation should only be done under professional guidance.

Can diabetics take KA-EX®?

KA‑EX®contains6 g of glucose and 12 g of fructose per serving —similar tothe sugar content of an average apple. Diabetics should account forthis in theirinsulin or dietary management and consult with a healthcare professional if unsure.

Can pregnant or breastfeeding women take KA-EX®?

Sugar is known to lead to a cortisolspike,why does KA-EX®containsugar?

It’s true that sugar can cause a short-term cortisol spike lasting 30 to 60 minutes. However, in the context of post-exercise recovery, this effect is largely irrelevant.  

Intense physical activity elevates cortisol levels for 48 to 72 hours due to muscle damage, inflammation, and systemic stress. In comparison, the brief spike caused by sugar is minimal and does not contribute to any meaningful additional cortisol load.  

KA‑EX® contains only 18g of sugar—the same amount and type found in a regular apple (12g fructose, 6g glucose)—and is classified as “low in sugar.” Yet this small amount plays a critical role in the product’s effectiveness by enabling key recovery processes:  

  • Replenishment of muscle glycogen: Glycogen is the body’s primary fuel source during exercise. Recovery requires energy, and restoring glycogen immediately post-workout is essential for proper muscle repair and performance rebound.  
  • Facilitated nutrient and electrolyte absorption: Sugar acts as a transport facilitator. As glucose and fructose are taken up into muscle cells, they carry along vital co-transported substances—such as electrolytes, L-glutamine (for cellular repair), anti-inflammatory compounds, and alkaline minerals to restore optimal pH balance.  

Research shows that even when the body is adequately supplied with protein and other nutrients, the absence of sugar post-exercise can reduce recovery efficacy by up to 34%. In fact, after high-intensity training, it is often recommended to consume 60g of carbohydrates to support full recovery.
